THE PARK PALS

The park pals where thought up as a way to bring friendship between children and the park. This would have been done with five character :-

-Robbie the Rabbit

-Bill the Birdy

-Molly the Mole

-Maddy the Mouse

-Freddie the Frog

The five animals would all 'live' at the sculpture park, each character would have been strategically placed around the park at different sculptures. The activity book (mentioned above) would have information about the characters, which the children/families could read about when they reach certain sculptures on their walk around the park. The characters would be illustrated to a cartoon style but keeping in the theme of the sculpture park aswell.

Basically based on the Ceebies branding of the little aliens that are included in all ther television broadcasts.

Constructive Feedback

We presented our character idea to Brent (Tutor) but we were strongly advised to completely chance our idea as he told us that this idea of adding characters to reinvent/promote has been tried and tested for other companies and has completely failed. We thought we had caught onto a winner until pointed out to us that it was just another tacky design and if the company wanted that type of style they would have gone serious and got world famous animators such as Pictoplasma involved!

(See their work here: http://pictoplasma.com/)

As a result we took his advice and began to rethink our target audience and what we are going to design.

This week’s main objective is to research as much information on relevant matters as we can then come up with individual concept ideas of products and events. After a group meeting set up for today we shall be more aware or what route we are taking with these and can focus on the design aspects more than concepts
